Jacqulyn Pigford

Coach Jackie began her coaching career in 2002 at Dunbar High School while six months pregnant with her first child. After a brief break, she returned in 2009 as the Junior Varsity Coach at Northwestern High School. She later joined the DMV All-Stars as Associate/Skills Developer in 2016 and coached with Revolution DC Club from 2017 to 2019. Jackie also served as the Assistant Varsity Coach and Head JV Coach at Grace Brethren Christian School from 2021 to 2023. She joined Borinquen Volleyball Academy in 2023 as Head Coach for the 16U Flatback team and, in 2024, coached BVA’s Developmental teams. For the 2025 season, she is serving as the Head JV Coach for Southern Maryland Christian Academy in Waldorf, MD.

As an athlete, Jackie was introduced to volleyball by her high school track and field coach, Austin Gibbs, and quickly fell in love with the sport. She went on to compete as a defensive specialist and outside hitter at Lincoln University (1990–1994), where she was also a sprinter, long jumper, and 400-meter runner in track and field. She earned All-American honors twice as part of the 4×100 meter relay team.

Coach Jackie has contributed to the sport in numerous ways, including developing fundamentals, running practices, designing progressive drills, managing team statistics, and traveling with teams to competitions. She is detail-oriented, highly organized, and experienced in every court position, referee work, and volleyball skill development. She has also served on the Chesapeake Region (CHRVA) Board of Directors.

Her coaching philosophy emphasizes teamwork, fundamentals, and holistic development—helping athletes improve on the court while supporting their growth off the court with empathy and encouragement.

Outside of volleyball, Jackie is the owner of Amazinjacqs’ Catering, works as a Senior Finance Analyst, and enjoys painting, DIY projects, hairstyling, and dancing. She is also the proud mother of two daughters, both of whom share her love of volleyball.
